The race for the knockout stage in the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) is heating up as teams battle for the final spots in the quarterfinals. While several nations have already secured their places, Team USA has not officially clinched advancement yet, despite an impressive start to the tournament.

The United States currently holds a 3–0 record in Pool B after defeating Mexico in Houston. However, the Americans must still finish strong in their remaining pool games to guarantee their place in the next round.

Team USA Off to Strong Start in Pool B

Team USA has been one of the most explosive teams in the tournament so far. Through their first three games, the Americans have scored 29 runs, showcasing a powerful offense led by stars like Aaron Judge and Bobby Witt Jr.

Their latest win came against Mexico in Houston, where the United States secured a 5–3 victory in a highly competitive matchup.

Despite the undefeated record, the Americans still need another win to secure the top position in their group.

    Crucial Matchup Against Italy

Team USA’s next game against Italy will be critical in determining the final standings in Pool B. If the United States wins, they will secure the Pool B title and advance comfortably to the quarterfinal round.

However, if the U.S. loses and multiple teams finish with identical records, run differential could determine which teams move forward.
