Jon Jones has indicated that his fighting career is on hold after he was not included in the UFC event connected to the White House announcement. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion said he has stepped away from fighting and now sees himself more as a businessman.

Jones used the phrase “my gloves are up” to describe his current mindset, suggesting that he is no longer focused on returning to the Octagon.

    Retirement Came After Championship Controversy

Jones retired last year while still holding the UFC Heavyweight Championship. His decision followed a controversial period in the division.

At the time, Jones declined to fight Interim Champion Tom Aspinall. After that situation, Aspinall was elevated to the position of Undisputed Heavyweight Champion.

Before stepping away, Jones had also expressed interest in facing Alex Pereira, and he had previously spoken about having influence over potential opponents during his championship run.

White House Event Talks and Disagreement

There had been speculation that Jones might return for a major UFC event connected to the White House announcement known as UFC Freedom 250.

Jones later said he had been in discussions about appearing on that card. However, when the fight announcement was made, his name was not included.

Instead, the event revealed that Alex Pereira would face Ciryl Gane for an Interim Heavyweight Championship.

UFC president Dana White later stated that negotiations with Jones had not taken place and that, in his view, Jones was finished competing in the promotion.

Jones disagreed with that claim and said talks had occurred but that the financial offer was not acceptable. He also asked for his release from the UFC if the organization truly considers his fighting career over.

Focus Shifts Toward Business and Ambassador Roles

Following the White House event situation, Jones appears to be focusing on activities outside of fighting.

He has taken on ambassador roles with IBA Bareknuckle and Dirty Boxing. His involvement with these organizations increased after the news surrounding the UFC event.

Jones was recently seen attending a Dirty Boxing event in Miami and appeared in photos alongside Tristan Tate and Andrew Tate during the event.

These appearances highlight his shift toward business and promotional work in combat sports.

Jones Embracing Life Outside the Octagon

In interviews around the launch of the first IBA event, Jones spoke openly about his current outlook.

He said he is enjoying life away from active competition and spending time observing other fighters rather than preparing for fights himself.

Jones repeated that “my gloves are up,” explaining that he now views himself as “business Jon Jones” rather than “fighter Jon Jones.”

For now, his focus remains on business opportunities and ambassador roles within combat sports. While the future is uncertain, fans and the UFC community will continue to watch closely in case Jones ever decides to return to the Octagon.
