The Phoenix Suns are approaching the end of the 2025–26 NBA regular season, but their focus is already shifting toward the upcoming Play-In Tournament. Star guard Devin Booker has been ruled out for the matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers as the team chooses to manage his right ankle injury and protect him for the postseason.

Phoenix recently secured the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference, which guarantees a spot in the play-in stage. With their playoff position already decided, the Suns are using the final games of the season to rest key players and fine-tune their lineup.

Booker’s absence against the Lakers reflects that approach. After playing in a long stretch of games and dealing with ankle issues during the season, the Suns are taking a cautious route with their franchise player.

Devin Booker’s Injury Status and Availability

The Suns listed Booker as out due to right ankle injury management. The decision comes after a demanding run of games and with the postseason approaching quickly.

Phoenix’s injury report also included multiple players who will not suit up for the Lakers matchup.

Booker recently mentioned that the team might consider resting him in one of the final games to protect his health before the play-in stage.

Suns Locked Into No. 7 Seed in Western Conference

Phoenix has already secured the seventh position in the Western Conference standings. This means the outcome of the final regular-season games will not change their playoff path significantly.

The Suns recently defeated the Dallas Mavericks 112-107, a game that highlighted Booker’s importance to the team. In that matchup, the star guard scored 37 points while adding five rebounds and nine assists.

Despite that strong performance, Phoenix has struggled to find consistent form late in the season, posting a 6-9 record over their last fifteen games.

    Devin Booker’s 2025–26 Season Performance

Booker has once again been the driving force behind Phoenix’s campaign. After major offseason changes, including the departures of several high-profile players, many observers doubted the Suns’ chances this season. Booker responded by leading the team back into playoff contention.

His leadership helped the Suns bounce back after missing the playoffs last year.

Booker is also making history in the league. He recently became the third-youngest shooting guard in NBA history to reach 18,000 career points, trailing only two legends of the position.

Suns Trying to Solve Rotation Issues Before Play-In

Although Phoenix has clinched the seventh seed, the team still has work to do before the postseason.

The Suns have struggled to establish a consistent rotation after integrating new players into the lineup. Injuries and lineup adjustments have made it difficult for the team to settle into a rhythm.

Head coach Jordan Ott and the coaching staff must decide whether to focus on rest or use the remaining games to improve chemistry.

Booker emphasized that the team must quickly find unity before the playoffs begin.

“We have to get on the same page in a hurry.”

The Suns know that a strong performance in the Play-In Tournament could set up a challenging first-round matchup.

    Potential Play-In and Playoff Scenario

As the No. 7 seed, Phoenix will participate in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

If they win their first play-in game, they will advance to the playoffs and likely face the San Antonio Spurs, led by rising superstar Victor Wembanyama.

The Suns’ main priority now is entering the postseason healthy and confident.

Booker Earns Respect From Rising Players

Booker’s influence around the league continues to grow. In a recent matchup against Dallas, Mavericks rookie John Poulakidas delivered a career-best performance, scoring 23 points and hitting five three-pointers.

During the game, Poulakidas even blocked Booker and scored on the next possession. Despite the competitive moment, Booker later congratulated the rookie after the game, showing respect for his performance.

The exchange highlighted Booker’s standing as one of the NBA’s respected veteran stars.

Phoenix will face the Los Angeles Lakers before finishing the regular season against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

These games will serve as the final preparation before the Play-In Tournament begins.

With Booker resting and several players dealing with injuries, Phoenix will focus on regaining momentum and building chemistry before the postseason challenge.
