The Big Bash League 2025–26 (BBL 15) has once again delivered high-scoring matches, but not every innings this season has been about explosive strike rates. On challenging pitches and under pressure situations, some batters have played slower but crucial half-centuries.

The list of the Top 5 Slowest Fifty in BBL 2025-26 is dominated by Babar Azam, who occupies the top two spots while playing for Sydney Sixers.

Babar Azam stands out with two of the slowest fifties this season. His 42-ball 58 against Sydney Thunder was his first BBL half-century and proved decisive in a winning cause.

The 44-ball fifty, the slowest of the season so far, came on a tricky surface where survival was as important as scoring. While his strike rate has hovered around 117, his innings have provided stability when quick collapses were possible.

Cameron Bancroft, known for his red-ball background, played a 41-ball fifty for Sydney Thunder on a difficult pitch where timing was hard to find.

Ben McDermott, usually a power hitter, took 39 balls to reach his fifty for Hobart Hurricanes, choosing responsibility over aggression.

Youngster Sam Konstas impressed in his debut BBL season by scoring a 38-ball fifty, showing maturity beyond his age.

Slow half-centuries often spark debate, but they highlight an important aspect of T20 cricket — context matters. Not every pitch allows free hitting, and not every situation demands all-out attack. The Top 5 Slowest Fifty in BBL 2025-26 shows that even in a fast league like the BBL, controlled batting still has a place.

The BBL 2025–26 season is still ongoing, and this list may change as more matches are played. With conditions varying across venues, more slow but meaningful innings could appear before the finals.
